Rained Out and a New Car

We've been having quite a few thunder storms here, some bringing tornado with them, and I was rained out of the farmers market. So look for my Market Totes on Etsy early next week!

I've been thinking about cars lately. I've got a sweet little '97 VW Golf but there is the possibility that it may soon start needing a lot of work. When I bought it I was looking for a diesel car that I could maybe convert to run on veggie oil like this. But there wasn't one available in my price range.

Now I am newly obsessed with this car:

cute huh? It's a zap car . It's electric, goes up to 40 miles on one charge and up to around 40 mph, although some reviews say it's more like 35 mph. Since I drive 10 miles round trip to school on all back roads, I'm thinking this could be a great car for me. Here is the best part...

yup, a solar panel! You can also set it up as a charging station if you don't want to ride around with it on the roof. So how great is that? They start at around $11,000 but the solar panel is another $1500, so if I add a radio I think the total would be around $13,000. That's not too bad considering I wouldn't have to buy gas and I could run on solar power a lot of the time.

Does anyone out there have one of these or know anything about them?

 phew! so much going on here and I've been bad about keeping y'all updated.

The Farmer's Market went really well. There were modest sales,which I was happy with, and great feedback. I'm looking forward to the next one this week.

Some new bags waiting for market...

I did take photos, but my memory card has malfunctioned and I lost them all. This was a little horrifying because there were tons of family photos (the card held about 400) and they are most likely gone now. There is some hope of restoring them but it may take a while. I've bought a new card, but it's smaller so that I have to download and back up pictures more often.

A little vacation...

Every year we go to Provincetown which is a sweet little place right on the tip of cape cod. Very beachy. While I was poking through a great little shop I saw some cute magnets made from super strong magnets and beach rocks. When I looked at the price (not that I would actually pay money for rocks I could have crossed the street and picked up), I thought,"hey, I can do that!" And so the boys and I collected some good magnet sized rocks...

and we did!

I have been trying to purge things and create more space in my little house so I haven't really been going to Todd's Farm or yard sales much this summer. But a few weekends ago I did succumb to the urge and just went to look at a few estate sales. Here's what I came back with...

    

2 Pyrex bowls,one complete with lid and a little metal thing you can put a candle in to keep things hot, luster ware salt and pepper shakers, a jar of vintage buttons (one has a picture of Queen Elizabeth on it, love her), and a Cambridge glass bowl that matches my grandmothers.

  The garden is on the mend..

the hydrangeas came up nicely. Does anyone know how to properly cut these back for the winter? I've always got those little sticks popping out.

 

More bees on my drumstick allium. I need to get more of these as not all survived the painters and the bees do love them!

This lambs ear is new this summer. It loves it's new home.

and finally my little courtyard area. That green fence will come down soon. You can see we decided on a cafe set, thank you Martha! There should be lots of colorful flowers, but they will come back next year. I am wishing for my fountain for my birthday. hint, hint, hint...
