life with kids and a little fire to boot...
So I had this great plan for today.
I was going to get lots done, gardening, laundry (always a theme here), organizing, cleaning up.
Then, in the middle of moving my creeping phlox, my oldest says,"somebody is having a fire, I smell smoke". So I look across the street and there is a brush fire in their bushes. A small amount of mayhem ensued as I told him to go in the house and yell "call the fire department" and I put buckets of water on the fire. It was all fine, just a little fire started by someone being careless with a cigarette, but Bubba was a little scared. It was put out quickly and he got to go inside the fire engine. Plus he's been telling everyone who will listen that he saved the day!
So that was the morning.
Then this afternoon, my little one woke up from his nap with a fever of 104. So off to the pediatricians. He's doing ok now, sleeping with Tylenol. I am hoping it breaks tonight.
All this means the only thing I got done was moving the phlox and I am too tired to sew or paint.
I did manage to take a few pictures of the pillowcases I found at the thrift store on the way home from strawberry picking. I tried to take a picture that was not on the clothes line and I'm not super happy with it, but the day was a bit hectic and there wasn't time to take more. There are 2 great sheets on the left and the rest are pillowcases. I just love that soft cotton! I may have a problem as I can't seem to resist them. I guess I have to start cutting into them and making something, which I am finding a bit hard to do, they are so sweet!
pillowcases on the fence...
and pillowcases drying on the line...
You can see my clothespin bag there. I've had a lot of response to my little tutorial so I am in the process of making a bunch for my etsy shop. Maybe tomorrow will be a little less eventful and I'll get to work on them!

I love seeing clotheslines in use. I can see why those pillowcases are hard to resist. Save the ones you love the best as they are; you'll be happy you did later.
I used to cut up all this old vintage barkcloth (twenty-five years ago, I'm of a certain age) and now I cringe at the thought of it. What I'd give to have that fabric for drapes now!
Hooray for Bubba!

Yay! Bubba saves the day! I foresee lots of fireman dress-up in your future, along with imaginary fires!
Oh, and about that parallel lives thing, did I mention both my boys have been sick since Sunday? No fever, but MAJOR cold symptoms.
